I got to ride the motorcycle yesterday. The calendar said January, but the weather said early spring. I certainly wasn't the only bike out there, but we all had to be careful because the roads were wet in places and of course there was gravel, too. I flew past a church with a sign out front that promised you'll never be lonely again if you attend their church. I laughed out loud. How can a church promise you that you'll never be lonely? Is it blaming you for loneliness, if you're lonely then you don't have enough faith in their god? Or is it saying that you'll only feel lonely because you don't belong to a community of other people? Loneliness has nothing to do with how many people surround you. I believe it has to do with not having a real connection with another person. I can be alone and not be lonely. I can be surrounded by a roomful of people and still feel lonely. Today it's raining and there's no chance of tossing a leg over the bike again, and that's really a shame because there are few things better than getting to ride in the middle of winter. Actually, there are few things better than riding. Except maybe making a real connection with another person. I'm 41 and single. I know that sounds weird. Most women my age have been married once or twice. I've never wanted to get married just to be married. I always hoped and believed I'd find a real love with a man and then I would want nothing more than to spend the rest of my life with him. I wonder if I've met him and simply didn't recognize him. Everything in my life has taught me that men don't really long for that same connection as women long for. Basically, I've been taught that all men really want is a good job that makes them feel productive, good food, and lots and lots of sex. (Not necessarily in that order.) Well, I'm a good cook, and I really do have a very high libido, but I can't help you with that whole job thing. Well, since looks are also important to men you should know, I'm 5'4" overweight, long hair, caucasian. I've been told that I'm attractive, beautiful, and even once or twice (recently) I've been told that I'm gorgeous. I know I'm intelligent with a good sense of humor that's off beat and sometimes just plain weird. I lead a busy and full life, but there's still plenty of room for some good quality dating.
